“When we first visited the ruins, we were taken by it’s dark romance. Personally, we are drawn to the historical because we think there’s just something inspiring about the memories and moments that have been made in these places and have been buried and forgotten over time. In our shoot, we wanted to portray the timeless nature of the ruins-that although it is decades old, the beauty it inspires is ageless.” Applehead Photography & Design
From Steel Lotus Events, “The inspo behind this shoot came when Heather & Phillip of Applehead Photography & Design reached out to me asking if I’d be interested in collaborating on a stylized shoot. Right off the bat, I knew it was going to be darker colors and moody, as Heather & I both tend to be drawn to a darker style aesthetic. We shot ideas back and forth and agreed that combining the moody element with the perfect outdoor venue would give it an ethereal vibe. All of the vendors we worked with nailed the aesthetic we aimed for and really helped make this shoot come to life!”
The gorgeous gown is the Ann overskirt, made of three tiered pleated tulle, from Zuri Bridal. While many brides love pairing it over a fitted gown for the ceremony and then taking it off for the reception, for this photo shoot, it was used with a separate top. Perfect for so many looks! Price point $1,999.
“For the cake, I wanted to emphasize the dark and mysterious feel of the ruins, but also mimic the gorgeous bridal skirt with the white ruffles. The black and white sugar ruffles added softness and movement to the cake yet still giving it some edge from a traditional styled wedding cake. The deep colors created a dramatic eye catching contrast that is perfect for those wanting to incorporate some color into their wedding.” Zells Cottage Bakery
“I am drawn to monochromatic color schemes and intentionally designed a bouquet that was dark, unconventional, and masculine. I selected a bold and beautiful purple artichoke as an unexpected focal flower. For the groomsman, I chose a variety of flowers and grasses, with unique textures that matched the mood of the bouquet. I wanted my design to capture the ethereal nature of the photoshoot.” Primavera Floral
From the Ruins at Kellum Valley, “We were so thrilled with all the vendors that worked on this photo shoot. Since opening our north Georgia wedding venue, some 15 years ago, we have had many opportunities to work with talented wedding professionals, but this group was unsurpassed. While we only do one, or maybe two professional photo shoots per year, this one certainly spoiled us! Thank you, all.”
